Common Errors

SSL Certificate Not Issuing

Symptom: Site loads over HTTP or shows SSL errors after demyx run domain.tld --ssl.

Causes and fixes:

  1. DNS A record not propagated yet — wait and retry
  2. DEMYX_DOMAIN or DEMYX_EMAIL not set:
bash
   demyx host edit
   # Set DEMYX_DOMAIN and DEMYX_EMAIL
   demyx host restart
  1. Ports 80/443 blocked by firewall — ensure they're open
  2. Rate limited by Let's Encrypt — wait an hour and try again

Container Won't Start

Symptom: demyx compose domain.tld ps shows a container as Exited.

Diagnose:

bash
demyx log domain.tld -s    # Docker logs
demyx log domain.tld -e    # Error log
demyx healthcheck app      # Full health report

Common fix: Force-recreate containers:

bash
demyx compose domain.tld fr

Or do a full config refresh:

bash
demyx refresh domain.tld -fr

WordPress Login Redirects to Wrong URL

Symptom: After enabling SSL, login redirects to http:// instead of https://.

Fix: Run a search-replace via demyx config:

bash
demyx config domain.tld --ssl=true

This runs wp search-replace automatically. Or do it manually:

bash
demyx wp domain.tld search-replace 'http://domain.tld' 'https://domain.tld' --skip-columns=guid

App Shows 502 Bad Gateway

Symptom: NGINX/Traefik returns 502.

Causes:

  1. PHP-FPM / WordPress container is down
  2. MariaDB is not running

Fix:

bash
demyx compose domain.tld fr

Or check logs first:

bash
demyx log domain.tld -e
demyx log domain.tld -d

SMTP Not Sending

Symptom: demyx smtp returns an error or no email arrives.

Fix:

  1. Ensure DEMYX_SMTP=true in demyx host edit
  2. Run demyx host restart after changes
  3. Verify SMTP credentials with your provider
  4. Check port 587 is not blocked by your server's firewall

Cache Not Clearing

Symptom: Changes don't appear on the live site after editing.

Fix:

# For nginx-php with FastCGI cache
demyx exec domain.tld -n -r rm -rf /var/cache/nginx/*

# Via WP-CLI (for plugin-level cache)
demyx wp domain.tld cache flush

High Load / Server Sluggish

Symptom: Server load is high, sites are slow.

Diagnose:

bash
demyx healthcheck load
demyx host ctop

Fixes:

bash
# Set resource limits on heavy apps
demyx config domain.tld --wp-cpu=.50 --wp-mem=512m

# Enable Redis to reduce DB queries
demyx config domain.tld --redis=true

# Enable cache
demyx config domain.tld --cache=true
