Upgrading Demyx

Upgrade Process

Run the following to upgrade the Demyx host stack:

bash
demyx host upgrade

This pulls the release-pinned Demyx image used by the helper, refreshes the host helper when needed, pulls relevant images, recreates core services, refreshes all app configs, updates the local image cache, and removes dangling images.

To skip the confirmation prompt:

bash
demyx host upgrade -f

To preview available image updates without upgrading:

bash
demyx update -l

demyx update refreshes the image version cache and host helper from inside the Demyx container. demyx host upgrade is the preferred command for host stack upgrades.

What Changed in v1.11.0

  • Demyx image references are release-pinned instead of resolved through moving tags at runtime.
  • demyx host upgrade regenerates pinned host config before re-running itself after helper updates.
  • Single-image demyx pull commands use release-pinned tags for Demyx images.
  • Telemetry now uses a local TOFU identity and signed REST requests instead of the old shared-secret HMAC send path.
  • --no-ping now passes telemetry-disabled state into the helper container during install.

What Changed in v1.10.0

  • PHP default updated to 8.4 (apps on 8.3 or lower are auto-upgraded)
  • New --pm flag for PHP-FPM process manager (ondemand, dynamic, static)
  • Container resource limits now auto-calculate at ~90% of available CPU/memory
  • SFTP config output includes ready-to-copy IDE and SSH connection strings
  • Fixed app backup database export command
  • Fixed PHP auto-upgrade logic for versions below 8.3

PHP Auto-Upgrade

Demyx automatically bumps PHP versions below 8.3 to 8.4 during environment loading. If your app has DEMYX_APP_PHP=8.1 or 8.2, it will be silently updated to 8.4.

To explicitly pin a version:

bash
demyx config domain.tld --php=8.4

After Upgrading

demyx host upgrade already runs demyx refresh all as part of the upgrade. If you manually edit app environment files later, refresh that app to pick up template changes:

bash
demyx refresh domain.tld -fr

This regenerates compose.yml and .env for the app and force-recreates its containers.

Tip: Run demyx update -l to preview which images have available updates before pulling them.
